Did you know that having a single partion on a large hard drive can reduce performance. What I recommend to people with monster hard drives is to break it up into multiple partions. Put your operating system and program on the C drive and your data on D. That way if you ever toast your operating system you can reformat the C drive without affecting your data.
Probably the best FREE partitioning software is GParted. It is a Live CD. That means you download and ISO file an burn it to a CD. Boot your computer to the CD and have at it.
When you boot back into Windows, you will need to go into Computer Manager (start - control panel - administive tools - computer managment) then Disk Managment. You will see an empty partition there. Right click on it and create a new partion. Then format it.
If you are looking for a quick and dirty ISO burner try ISOBurn.
